The LinkRunner G2

The LinkRunner G2 Smart Network Tester is a rugged, fast, and complete copper and fiber Ethernet network connectivity tester. The LinkRunner G2 is Android-based and it performs the essential set of network connectivity tests, enabling you to quickly and accurately identify and solve network connectivity problems while at the same time providing the capability of adding more functionality via third-party Android Apps.

The LinkRunner G2

Allows you to quickly validate switch connectivity and configuration.

Quickly view switch information, such as name/port, detected link speed/duplex, and VLAN configuration. If PoE is enabled, test the power that the switch can offer under load, against what the switch advertises.

The LinkRunner G2

Link Test

AutoTest functionally verify that the switch port can support the link speed that the end-device required, from 10M to 1G. If auto-negotiation is selected, the tester will link at the highest speed advertised by the switch. Yellow means that the tester cannot link at the highest speed, usually caused by cabling issue: split pair or open pair.

LinkRunner G2 functionally exercise the network’s ability to provide the power, speed required up to 1Gbps, not just what the network advertised. The LinkRunner G2 can test cable while the cable is connected to a switch for distance to open.

The LinkRunner G2

Add Pictures or Comments

Attach pictures or comments to your test results.

Simplify the process of documenting what you see by attaching photos, screenshots, or comments to your test results. Everything with a single device!

The LinkRunner G2

Validate cable wiring and distance, or identify cable faults.

Quickly identify cable faults like opens, shorts, or split pairs. You can also validate the wiremap, cable length, or see if the other end of the cable is connected to a switch/station.

The LinkRunner G2

Apply a tone to the cable.

Simplify the process of tracing a cable by applying different types of tones. No need to disconnect the cable from the switch.

The LinkRunner G2

Provides access to saved profiles, settings, and other tools.

Quickly adjust to your test environment by changing profiles on the fly, or modifying settings as required. Easily gain access to useful tools that allow for VLAN monitoring or packet captures.

The LinkRunner G2

Provides multiple configuration options, such as date/time, language, test targets, PoE, IP Address and VLAN, etc.

Quickly adjust to your test environment by easily creating configuration profiles that can be used when needed.

The LinkRunner G2

VLAN Monitor

Monitor VLAN traffic on a trunk port.

Quickly validate that all supported VLAN’s are available. Easily determine the root cause of VLAN over-subscription by visualizing which VLAN’s are handling the highest amount of traffic.

The LinkRunner G2

Allows you to perform a packet capture.

Simplify the process of troubleshooting the most complicated performance problems by performing a packet capture. No need to install sniffers or carry around laptops.

The LinkRunner G2

IP Target Test

LinkRunner G2 can test for connectivity to unlimited number of Target IP Address specified in the AutoTest profile. To verify consistency, a continuous test can be performed where the min/max response time will be shown.

Connectivity and responsiveness to intranet and internet service can be accomplished in one go.

Discover Nearest Switch and VLAN

The LinkRunner G2 uses the IEEE Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), plus the Cisco and Extreme Discovery Protocols (CDP and EDP) to display the VLAN and nearest switch model, slot, and port.

The LinkRunner G2 displays critical nearest switch information include:
– Switch name and model
– Switch chassis, slot, and port #
– Switch IP Address
– VLAN’s supported
– Duplex and speed (actual and advertised)
– Signal strength
– Connection (MDI or MDI/X)
– PoE voltage and power (actual and test limit)

TruePower PoE Loaded Test

LinkRunner G2 is the first field tester able to validate loaded PoE performance by drawing actual power up to 802.3bt 90W across all four pairs. Load the circuit to stress switches, cabling, and patch panels, all while measuring the voltage and pairs being used. Using the TruePower test to validate the power delivery before installing IoT connected devices ensures a smooth deployment and helps to alleviate finger-pointing.

Get Answers Fast with AutoTest

The LinkRunner G2 Li-ION battery can be charged via PoE and can power up in standby mode within a second. Enhanced, user-defined AutoTest can perform a required set of connectivity tests within seconds. The LinkRunner G2 Smart Network Tester enables you to quickly and accurately validate network health, and solve problems fast.

– PoE loaded test up to 90W
– Link speed and duplex (actual and advertised)
– RX pair, polarity, and signal level
– 802.1x authentication
– Discover the nearest switch/slot/port and Data/Voice VLAN
– DHCP discovery with vendor classification ID and Option 60 and 150 response, and show subnet and DHCP server addresses
– Gateway and DNS server availability and responsiveness
– Ping or TCP port connectivity tests to an unlimited number of user-defined targets

Packet Reflector

The LinkRunner G2 packet reflector mode can be used as a remote device during end-to-end network path performance tests to validate LAN and WAN throughput capabilities up to 1Gbps.

LinkRunner G2 supports packet reflection for:
– OptiView® XG Network Analysis Tablet
– OneTouch™ AT Network Assistant

VLAN Monitor & Packet Capture
The LinkRunner G2 can monitor and show traffic distribution of the top 9 VLANs and capture 2GB of packets at line-rate.

Automated Test Results Management to Link-Live Cloud Service

Serving as a centralized test results and device management system, the complimentary Link-Live cloud service transforms team workflows with the ability to quickly and easily log, document, and report test activity from all LinkSprinter, LinkRunner AT, LinkRunner G2, AirCheck G2, and OneTouch AT hand-held network testers. Once the instrument is connected to the Link-Live Cloud Service, your test results are automatically uploaded to the dashboard for project management and reporting. You have the option of uploading additional files, screenshots, images, profiles, packet captures, location information, and comments anytime. Also, certain NetAlly instruments with AllyCare Support can receive firmware updates “over the network” from Link-Live as they become available.

An API is available to retrieve and integrate data from Link-Live into other management platforms, such as your trouble-ticket application or network management system. This gives you the ability to easily provide proof-of-performance and better manage jobs and staff efficiency.

This unified dashboard of both wired and Wi-Fi network connectivity results enables you to:
– Reduce results management overhead for multiple testers and users
– Enables seamless collaboration between site personnel and remote experts
– Simplify report generation across media types for network deployment documentation
– Attach photos, user comments to each result, adding context for future changes and troubleshooting
– For asset management, ability to associate serial numbers of installed devices, and/or cable/wall jack label to specific test results
