Home Screen
Home Screen - AutoTest
The LinkRunner G2’s AutoTest is the main screen. It performs an advanced set of network functional-tests automatically when network link is detected on its RJ-45 interface. It verifies link speed, PoE, VLAN, DHCP, Gateway, and connectivity to key devices. It is customizable to verify the network at various stages of completion. The AutoTest result is automatically uploaded to the complimentary Link-Live Cloud Portal for storage and report generation.
Benefits: The LinkRunner G2 offers automated hardware tests for PoE, cable, VLAN, and link speed that would be difficult if not impossible for laptop or mobile phone to conduct. With the flexibility of adding Android Apps, it empowers the onsite team to get the network up and running quickly.
Switch
Switch
Allows you to quickly validate switch connectivity and configuration.
Benefits: Quickly view switch information, such as name/port, detected link speed/duplex, and VLAN configuration. If PoE is enabled, test the power that the switch can offer under load, against what the switch advertises.
POE Test
POE Test
LinkRunner G2 uses our patented TruePower loaded PoE test to functionally verify the ability of 90W Power Supply Equipment (PSE) to deliver the power required by the powered device (PD). It also tests PoE voltage and the cable pairs used by PoE Injectors.
Benefits: Most PoE testers only check what the PSE advertises but do not test to see if the PSE can deliver the required wattage. Loaded PoE testing is critical when it comes to verifying high-power PoE applications. LinkRunner G2 provides the visibility you need to assure proper configurations, saving time and frustration.
Add Pictures and Comments
Add Pictures & Comments
Attach images or comments to the last AutoTest results uploaded to the Link-Live cloud service. The LinkRunner G2 has a built-in camera on the back of the unit to take snapshots of the site, or you can import an image from the photo gallery.
Benefits: Simplify the process of documenting what the on-site technician sees by attaching images, screenshots, or comments to the test results. The information is automatically associated with the test result in the complimentary Link-Live cloud service for easy job report generation. This is far easier than relying on emails or manual consolidation of data and test results.
DHCP
Advanced DHCP Test
LinkRunner G2 supports a DHCP test and provides a breakdown of DHCP server response time. It supports DHCP options 43, 60 and 150 that are commonly used in VoIP and WiFi AP deployment. It shows the IP Address of the WiFi controller and VoIP Configuration Server offered under the DHCP options.
Benefits: This advanced test function is not available in any other network test tool. This replaces the need to use a protocol analyzer to decode the DHCP packets to troubleshoot advanced DHCP server configuration issues, saving time and effort.
Cable
Cable
Validate cable wiring and distance, or identify cable faults.
Benefits: Quickly identify cable faults like opens, shorts, or split pairs. You can also validate the wiremap, cable length, or see if the other end of the cable is connected to a switch/station.
Cable - Tone
Cable - Tone
Apply a tone to the cable.
Benefits: Simplify the process of tracing a cable by applying different types of tones. No need to disconnect the cable from the switch.
Tools
Tools
Users can save or load AutoTest profiles, change settings, and launch advanced tools such as VLAN Monitor and Packet Capture.
Advanced settings such as “”Stop After”” allows the LinkRunner G2 to verify the network at various stages of completion, such as when DHCP, Gateway, or Internet services are not yet ready. Different settings can be saved as profiles for sites/jobs.”
Benefits: Allows the user to quickly adjust to the network environment by changing profiles on the fly, or modify settings as required. Technicians can easily access advanced tools such as VLAN monitoring or packet captures to accelerate root cause analysis during escalation.
Tools - Settings
Tools - Settings
Provides multiple configuration options, such as date/time, language, test targets, PoE, IP Address and VLAN, etc.
Benefits: Quickly adjust to your test environment by easily creating configuration profiles that can be used when needed.
Tools - VLAN
Tools - VLAN Monitor
Monitor VLAN traffic on a trunk port.
Benefits: Quickly validate that all supported VLAN’s are available. Easily determine the root cause of VLAN over-subscription by visualizing which VLAN’s are handling the highest amount of traffic.
“Impressive ease of use, gives comprehensive results in seconds, and saves a lot of time and resources.”

LinkRunner G2 vs. LinkRunner AT
The LinkRunner G2 uses the IEEE Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), plus the Cisco and Extreme Discovery Protocols (CDP and EDP) to display the VLAN and nearest switch model, slot, and port.
The LinkRunner G2 displays critical nearest switch information include:
Switch name and model
Switch chassis, slot, and port #
Switch IP Address
VLAN’s supported
Duplex and speed (actual and advertised)
Signal strength
Connection (MDI or MDI/X)
PoE voltage and power (actual and test limit)
LinkRunner G2 is the first field tester able to validate loaded PoE performance by drawing actual power up to 802.3bt 90W across all four pairs. Load the circuit to stress switches, cabling, and patch panels, all while measuring the voltage and pairs being used. Using the TruePower test to validate the power delivery before installing IoT connected devices ensures a smooth deployment and helps to alleviate finger-pointing.
The LinkRunner G2 packet reflector mode can be used as a remote device during end-to-end network path performance tests to validate LAN and WAN throughput capabilities up to 1Gbps.
LinkRunner G2 supports packet reflection for:
EtherScope® nXG Portable Network Expert
LinkRunner® 10G Advanced Ethernet Tester
OptiView® XG Network Analysis Tablet
OneTouch™ AT Network Assistant
VLAN Monitor & Packet Capture The LinkRunner G2 can monitor and show traffic distribution of the top 9 VLANs and capture 2GB of packets at line-rate.
Complimentary Link-Live Cloud Service stores test results and site data upload for automated reporting and documentation.
Simplifies report generation across media types for network deployment documentation.
Reduces results management overhead for multiple testers and users.
Enables seamless collaboration between site personnel and remote experts.
Attach photos, user comments to each result, adding context for future changes and troubleshooting.
For asset management, ability to associate serial numbers of installed devices, and/or cable/wall jack label to specific test results.
While the LinkRunner G2 and LinkRunner AT are both network testers that help IT and System Integrators verify and troubleshoot Ethernet access networks, the LinkRunner G2 is a new class of Network Tester, with an Android-based operating system and a smartphone-like user interface.
The LinkRunner G2 includes test features that provide visibility, versatility, and value beyond the LinkRunner AT.
